Chesterfield Royal Hospital confirm they are treating patients with coronavirus

The exact number of patients has not been confirmed- however the number of people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Derbyshire is currently five according to Public Health England.
The hospital has reassured residents it is taking ‘every infection precaution’ and that staff are trained and equipped to look after the patients ‘safely and appropriately’.

Hide AdBut they have also asked for co-operation from visitors to help minimse any spreading.
This includes not visiting the hospital if you have coronavirus symptoms and gauging if your visit is ‘absolutely essential’.
Visitors must also wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds when they arrive or use sanitiser gel if soap and water is not available.
They must always carry tissues with them in case they cough or sneeze, avoid touching their faces and avoid close contact with those who are unwell.

Hide AdA spokesperson for the hospital said: “Testing of suspected coronavirus cases is carried out in line with strict regulations.
“This means that suspected cases are kept in isolation, away from public areas of the hospital and returned home also in isolation.
“Any equipment that come into contact with suspected cases are thoroughly cleaned as appropriate.
“Specific guidance has also been shared with NHS staff to help safeguard them and others.
