Hide AdOfficers from Derbyshire Constabulary told the DT this week that their enquiries are ongoing and no charges have been made – but they would still like anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to them.
A force spokesperson previously said the driver of the BMW, a man from Warwickshire, had been ‘identified and spoken to’.
Passer-by Carl Troke told the Derbyshire Times eight police cars were at the scene and police photos showed the damage to the vehicle and the roadside railings.
Other residents reported that speeding cars were a problem in the area.

Hide AdA 26-year-old woman, who lives on Mill Green, just off the A619, said her family was asleep when they heard the noise.
"We thought it was a gas explosion it was so loud,” she told us last week.
"It caused a real mess and they only started cleaning it up yesterday.”
Chesterfield borough and Staveley town councillor Mick Bagshaw said it was fortunate the occupants of the car ‘got out alive’ given the damage caused to the vehicle and the roadside.
