BUOYED by the fantastic achievements of Team GB in the recent Olympics, David Ellis begins his quest for medals at the Beijing Paralympics this weekend.
The 22-year-old par- tially sighted swimmer from Marlpool takes part in his first event, the 100m butterfly, on Sunday morning.

He flew out to a holding camp in Macau from Heathrow on Saturday, August 23, and moved on to China yesterday (September 3).

All David’s heats begin at 9am in the morning Beijing time which is eight hours in front of the UK.

He has high hopes of doing really well in both of his best categories, the 200m individual medley and the 100m breaststroke.

He is also competing in the 100m butterfly, 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

His swimming schedule is:

September 7: 100m butterfly

September 10: 100m freestyle

September 12: 200m individual medley

September 13: 100m breaststroke

September 14: 100m backstroke

September 15: 50m freestyle

David is also a member of the elite Derbyshire swimming squad Derventio eXcel.
